Mechanics Club 2016

Our lucky mechanics had the opportunity to visit a full scale model of The Bloodhound this spring. The Bloodhound will soon be attempting the land-speed record and will reach speeds of over 1,000mph. As part of our day, the children had to build a car out of K-Nex around a plastic tube which would be filled with pressurised air. The car would then be fired along a track to see how fast it would travel. There were over 100 teams entered into the competition, however the vehicle built by Dylan, Charlie, Glen and Jake was the winning car and their team name - Marazion Mechanics - will be printed on the tail fin of The Bloodhound!
Marazion Mechanics were also interviewed by BBC Radio Cornwall. Here is a link to the BBC programme, you'll need to fast forward to 2:53:50
The mechanics have also been hard at work over the past few weeks, painting their workshop. Not long now and we'll be ready to start the build!
Added in the album below are pictures of the Mechanics Club testing their cars which they built themselves at Perranporth airfield.
