Our Curriculum

At Marazion School we aspire to provide an exciting and stimulating curriculum, developing independence, thinking skills and knowledge. We ensure that we do all we can to help pupils develop into self-assured, confident, happy, positive young people.

Throughout the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1, phonics sessions are taught daily using the Smart Kids Letters and Sounds Phonics Programme. Pupils move through the phases of learning, building up a bank of recognised sounds from the simple to the more complex. The programme teaches the skills of blending for reading and segmenting for writing. Pupils have the opportunity to revisit sounds that they may not yet recognise in smaller groups or individually.

The spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) education of our pupils is clear in all that we do. The interactions between pupils, parents, members of the community and staff are always respectful and positive. We have high expectations of the conduct of our school community and this is reiterated through explicit SMSC teaching and learning. We have daily assemblies, either in classrooms or as a whole school where respect and tolerance are always themes. Pupils have specific SMSC sessions each week, delivered partly through the RE/PSHE curriculum and partly reflective based on current issues for each class.

Individual Class Curriculum are available on each class page here on the website.
